Trump is in town – here’s how we’re responding

Hey Team,

Today at HQ is a little different. And we need to talk about why:

Donald Trump is in Ohio today, and he’s here to prop up his hand-picked lackey, Jon Husted. We don’t want to sugarcoat things – this visit could change everything, and with this race tightening, we can’t let our momentum slow.

In recent weeks, National Republicans have hit the panic button on Jon Husted’s flailing campaign. Roll Call just rated him as the MOST vulnerable incumbent, and now Donald Trump and Husted’s industry buddies are scrambling to pull every string to skew the election in his favor.

Jon Husted has been a yes-man for Donald Trump since he was sworn in — voting 14 times for an unpopular war that has led to rising costs and higher gas prices. Husted has stopped at nothing to give Trump and his billionaire circle what they want, and Ohio’s voters have paid the price. Now, Husted is cowering behind Trump in hopes that it’ll give him a bump right at the very end.

Husted needs Trump’s visit to distract from his own terrible record. He’s sold Ohioans out to data center billionaires and the one percent his entire career. He was special interest Jon in Columbus, now he’s special interest Jon in Washington.

Here’s why tonight’s rally makes us nervous, even though we knew it was coming:

Early voting starts in 3 days and our window of opportunity to reach voters before they head to the polls is shrinking. Fast. Trump is here to motivate his base to support Husted. If we lose ground, we lose the whole ballgame. Period.

Donald Trump’s favorite crypto billionaires just funded another ad blitz in Ohio. This race is already shaping up to be the most expensive non-presidential race in history. Trump using his pulpit at the same time as data center billionaires repeat lies about Sherrod on the air for hours a day could spell bad news for our campaign.

Our plan to fight back is simple – we’re going to keep ourselves in the conversation, and fight like hell to make sure voters hear the truth. With every grassroots donation that comes in, our team is able to keep our ads on the air and plan ahead to continue to get our message out to all of Ohio’s 88 counties. And with early voting starting here Tuesday, our team is working overtime to talk with voters before they’ve made their decision. We will never be able to outspend Jon Husted and Donald Trump – but with your help we can outwork them.

Sherrod is in this race because of you and the hundreds of thousands of grassroots supporters who’ve stood beside him and our team since the beginning.

If you’re looking for a moment to stand up to National Republicans and their special interests’ dark money, this is the time. If you can, please chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can.

A message from Team Sherrod 📣

Election analysts say we have a real shot of winning in Ohio this November, but flipping a Senate seat doesn’t come easy. It takes organizers on the ground in every one of the 88 counties in the state, ads that cut through the noise, and a team that can go head-to-head with an avalanche of dark money.

That’s the work made possible with you on board – and even a $5 donation from you today will put us one step closer to flipping this seat.

Sherrod’s opponent is a Washington insider backed by the Republican establishment with virtually unlimited resources at his disposal. We don’t have our opponent’s billionaire backers, but we do have a strong grassroots foundation of thousands of folks who believe that Ohio – and our country – deserves better.

Every dollar you chip in goes towards building the kind of campaign we’ll need to defy the odds and flip this seat. Donate today and be part of our path to victory. Everything counts in a race this close.
